German courses in Basel – for every level
We offer German courses in individual, group and online formats. You start at your current language level – from A1 to C2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Intensive German courses
If you want to make rapid progress, our Intensive Plus Course is the ideal choice. With more lessons per week than our standard courses, you can reach the next language level in a shorter period of time.
This German course is particularly suitable if you need to improve your language skills quickly for a new job, an upcoming exam, or everyday life in Switzerland.
Standard German language courses – afternoon, evening or Saturday
Our standard German language courses run for 20 weeks and comprise 80 lessons. Classes take place twice a week – on Tuesdays and Thursdays – or once on Saturday mornings. You choose the format that fits best into your daily routine.
Individual German courses in Basel or online
In private lessons, you set the pace, content and schedule yourself. Whether alone in a one-to-one lesson, in a learning duo or a learning trio – the lessons are tailored to your goals and your language level. This German course is available in Basel or online.
German conversation and spelling & grammar courses
In addition to the main courses, we offer specific formats for targeted language skills. In the conversation course, you practise speaking freely, overcome inhibitions and gain confidence in everyday situations. The German Spelling & Grammar course is aimed at all those who want to specifically improve their written German.
Goethe Certificate – German Exams at NSH Basel
NSH is an official examination centre of the Goethe-Institut. Our German courses are designed to prepare you for internationally recognised Goethe examinations and certifications.
Goethe certificates correspond to CEFR levels A1 to C2 and are accepted worldwide by educational institutions, employers, and government authorities. They are often required for job applications, university admission, naturalisation procedures, and visa applications.
We provide targeted exam preparation at every level and offer both preparation courses and examinations for the Goethe-Test PRO as well as Goethe Certificates from A1 to C2.
