Herzlich Willkommen! Looking to learn German quickly and intensively – and make real progress? Our German intensive course in Basel takes you through an entire language level in just 10 weeks: grammar, conversation, vocabulary and listening comprehension. From Monday to Friday, you immerse yourself in the German language every day – and you will notice a clear difference afterwards.
The Deutsch Intensiv Course is designed for all those who want to focus fully on learning German. You attend classes every day from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 11:40 (for a breakdown of C1 and C2 times, see below). The entire lesson is conducted in German only – ensuring maximum progress from day one.
The course covers all key language areas: core language knowledge, grammar, conversation and listening comprehension. Integrated exam training prepares you optimally for the globally recognised Goethe Certificate. Course materials are included in the course fee.
In addition to regular lessons, we offer free homework support on Tuesdays and Thursdays (10:55 – 11:40). At levels A1, A2 and B1, an optional conversation session is also available on Fridays (11:45 – 12:30).
At NSH language school, you can learn German in an intensive course at every level from A1 to C2. The number of lessons and scope vary slightly depending on the level:
At levels A1, A2 and B1, the course comprises 200 lessons over 10 weeks – that is 20 lessons per week. Starting at A1, you build the foundations of the German language and learn to hold your first conversations with confidence. At A2 and B1, you expand your vocabulary, deepen your grammar knowledge and gain more confidence in everyday situations.
Since level B2 is particularly comprehensive, we split it into two courses: B2.1 and B2.2. Each part comprises 200 lessons over 10 weeks. The Goethe Certificate B2 exam training is integrated into the second part (B2.2).
At advanced levels C1 and C2, the course comprises 100 lessons over 10 weeks – 10 lessons per week. C1 takes place daily from 08.00 to 09.40, C2 from 10.00 to 11.40.

Course materials and homework support are included in the course fee. The one-time enrolment fee is CHF 40.00. Instalment payments are possible with a surcharge of CHF 20.00 per month – we are happy to discuss individual payment arrangements on request.
Our German intensive courses run with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants. If fewer than 4 people enrol, we do not cancel the course. Instead, we run it as a small group with an adjusted number of lessons: with 3 participants, 70% of lessons are held; with 2 participants, 50%. In a small group, you often progress through the course content even faster – the teacher can focus more intensively on all learners and provide more individual support.
For a single enrolment, we are happy to arrange private lessons.
The first week of the course is a trial phase. At the end of that week, we decide together – based on the number of participants – whether the course continues as normal, is shortened or split into two groups. If you are not satisfied with the solution, we will find an alternative together.
German intensive courses are suited to those who want to make rapid progress and can dedicate Monday to Friday to their studies. In addition to lessons, approximately one hour of homework per day is expected.
If you are considering sitting a certificate exam, this course will prepare you thoroughly.
The course does not take place during school holidays.

NSH is an official Goethe Examination Centre – our courses prepare you specifically for the Goethe Certificates, which you can sit directly with us. The Basel location is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle. Regular cultural events are also held, to which all course participants are invited.

For a more precise level assessment, we recommend coming to visit us in person. We are available during our office opening hours. With our own placement test, we can assess your level much more accurately and advise you accordingly. A personal conversation also gives us a better impression of your spoken language skills.

The course is ideal if you are learning German for work, everyday life in Switzerland, an exam or a stay in the region.
We do not cancel the course. For small groups, we adjust the number of lessons and run the course as a small group – with the advantage that you receive even more individual attention.
