German evening course Basel – learn relaxed after work
The German evening course at NSH language school runs for 20 weeks and comprises 80 lessons. Classes take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and fit easily into a full-time work schedule. Lessons are conducted exclusively in German – ensuring maximum progress from day one. You should plan for around four additional hours of homework per week.
The course covers all key language areas: listening comprehension, writing, reading and conversation. Course materials, homework support and conversation sessions are all included in the course fee.
Levels, target group and placement for the German evening course
The German evening course is aimed at working professionals and anyone who wants to learn German alongside their daily commitments. The course covers all levels from A1 to C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) – whether beginner or advanced, you start exactly where you are.
If you are unsure which level suits you, we recommend taking the 👉 online placement test. It takes around 20 minutes and gives you an initial assessment of your written language skills. Send the result to [email protected] – we will get back to you promptly.
For a precise placement, we recommend coming to visit us in person. With our own placement test, we can assess you much more accurately and get a better impression of your spoken language skills as well. We are available during our office opening hours.

Our group courses run with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants. If fewer than 4 people enrol, we do not cancel the course but run it as a small group with an adjusted number of lessons: with 3 participants, 70% of lessons are held; with 2 participants, 50%. For a single enrolment, we are happy to arrange private lessons. In a small group, you often progress even faster – the teacher can focus more individually on each learner.
The first week of the course is a trial phase. At the end of that week, we decide together whether the course continues as normal, is shortened or split into two groups. If you are not happy with the solution, we will find an alternative together.
The course does not take place during school holidays.
