Good afternoon! You would like to learn German and you have time in the afternoon? Our German afternoon course in Basel fits around your daily life – twice a week, practical and at exactly your level. From A1 to B2.2, you make progress step by step and build your language skills in a targeted way.
German afternoon course Basel – learn German in the afternoon
At the NSH language school's German afternoon course, you study on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:00 to 16:45. The course runs for 20 weeks and comprises 80 lessons. Since lessons are conducted exclusively in German, you are fully immersed in the language from the very first session.
Alongside grammar and vocabulary, you train listening, reading, writing and speaking – all tailored to your language level. Course materials, homework support and conversation sessions are all included in the course fee.
Levels A1 to B2 – which German afternoon course is right for you?
The German afternoon course covers levels A1, A2, B1 as well as B2.1 and B2.2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Since B2 is a particularly extensive level, we split it into two courses – so you learn at your own pace without any gaps.
Not sure where you stand? Start with the 👉 Online placement test. It takes around 20 minutes and gives you an initial assessment of your written language skills. Send the result to [email protected] – we will get back to you promptly.
For a precise placement, we recommend coming to visit us in person. With our own placement test, we can assess you more accurately and get a better picture of your spoken language skills as well. We are available during our office opening hours.

German Afternoon Course Basel: Times, Schedule and Holidays
A1 – C2
Tuesday & Thursday from 15.00 – 16.45
Conversation A2 – B1 (optional)
Tuesday & Thursday from 17.00 – 17.45
Our group courses run with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants. If fewer than 4 people enrol, we continue the course as a small group with an adjusted number of lessons: with 3 participants, 70% of lessons are held; with 2 participants, 50%. For a single enrolment, we are happy to arrange private lessons. In smaller groups, you get to contribute much more often – and the teacher has more time for you personally.
The first week of the course is a trial phase. After that, we decide together whether the course continues as normal, is adjusted or split into two groups. If you are not happy with the solution, we will find an alternative together.
The course does not take place during school holidays.
