The ipso! International School, a bilingual all-day school in Rheinfelden, celebrated its 10th anniversary on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The anniversary was commemorated with an exhibition, speeches, and a vibrant program for young and adults on the school grounds.
The bilingual all-day school ipso! International School successfully marked its first decade. It all began in 2014 in Rheinfelden with nine students. Today, the school educates over 140 students across various stages (early childhood, kindergarten, primary, and secondary school) with the dedication of 28 passionate teachers. The unique and highly successful educational concept has aimed to foster a passion for learning and achievement.
The 10th anniversary of ipso! International School was celebrated in conjunction with the end of the summer term on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Following an exhibition for parents and guests, the celebration was inaugurated by Claudia Assandri, Head of School. The program continued with a speech by Georg B. Weibel, founder of ipso! International School. Subsequently, the graduating class of the secondary school, operating at district and secondary levels, was ceremoniously bid farewell.
The festivities took place on the school grounds with a generous reception and engaging summer activities for the children. While adults enjoyed a convivial gathering, children had the opportunity to participate in various activities, showcasing their skills in tug-of-war, various throwing games, basketball, and shooting. The children were particularly captivated by the Kin-Ball game.
According to an interview with Georg B. Weibel, there was a significant demand over a decade ago for an international school in the Rheinfelden region, which ultimately led to the decision to establish such a school. It became evident that the school should establish itself as a bilingual institution to attract interest from both international families looking to settle long-term in Switzerland and local parents desiring a bilingual education without compromising their connection to German-speaking Switzerland. In addition to spatial challenges, gaining the trust of interested parents was demanding. However, under the leadership of Sabina Sümegi-Schärli, the school quickly grew from its humble beginnings as a pioneering institution to become an established bilingual international school, emphasizing a multi-grade approach. Accordingly, the past ten years have been marked by hard work and challenges, but also by joy. Numerous milestones have been achieved and celebrated. Throughout, the International School has distinguished itself through its familial atmosphere, cross-stage student support, and a curriculum blending local and international perspectives. Students from the "first hour" left last year after over nine years of schooling, now moving on to further education or vocational training. Looking ahead, Georg B. Weibel hopes the school will continue to adapt to the evolving needs of society. Alongside a solid knowledge-based education fostering curiosity, the school aims to develop students into responsible individuals. These ambitious goals are pursued under the leadership of Claudia Assandri, and are accompanied by Georg B. Weibel with joy, confidence, and pride.
