Preschool - full-day care with Forest Pedagogy

In our bilingual preschool with Forest Pedagogy, we care for children from the age of 4 to 6.

The languages spoken are English and German, as in normal schools. We are also happy to integrate children who have no previous knowledge of these languages.

According to your professional situation and your personal needs we provide full-day care for your child, or alternatively, part-day care for at least five half-days per week.

With us, every child receives individual support. We take into account the different stages of development and pay special attention to particular aptitudes and talents in our small groups. We attach great value to a very loving homely atmosphere for learning and play. We would like to offer our students a home-from-home during the day.

The bilingual concept is based on an international educational concept known as the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). The IB PYP represents a holistic, humanistic view of mankind. Children are encouraged to ask questions and think conceptually. When they are older, they should be able to perceive the world independently, respectfully and with a thirst for knowledge.

The importance of free play in nature has always been part of our school philosophy and we are outdoors with the children several times a day, regardless of the weather. Forest education is a fixed, important part of our curriculum. Therefore, our children spend half a day a week in the nearby forest, where we have built, together with the parents, a special learning and break station with a "forest sofa" made of branches. In the afternoons, we often go to an idyllic playground nearby or the Rheinfelden city park.

Creativity and development of fine and gross motor skills are stimulated by daily singing, crafts, painting and baking. In addition, the children take part in school performances across ages and levels.

The ipso International School bilingual preschool offers a wide range of options for the optimal development of each child. The complete International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) taught through the teaching medium of the English and German languages can only be offered in the full-day structure. However, the compulsory hours of the local school system are already covered by five half-days (morning sessions every day, as far as possible). Children who complete their compulsory hours in state preschool can receive two half-days of additional support with us.
Our teaching concept is based on the globally recognised and binding guidelines of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme IB PYP.

Admission

Admissions usually take place in August and February, but admission is possible at any time by arrangement with the school management.

Requirements

No language skills in German or English are required for children at our preschool.

We can also look after your child daily from 07.30 am. You can book this offer for the entire school year or according to your needs.

After School Care

Would you like us to look after your child after school hours? Various options are available: for the entire school year or, depending on your situation, just a few hours longer at specific days. After School Care is available daily until 18.00 pm.

Lunch Catering

The children can enjoy a well-balanced, healthy and age-appropriate lunch with us, freshly prepared every day by the established catering company “Zaraz” in Rheinfelden.

Zaraz has been awarded the “Fourchette Verte” certificate several times. Special nutritional needs are taken into account wherever possible. At the future Bahnhofstrasse 26 location in Rheinfelden (from summer 2020), it will be possible for children to use the microwave to heat up food they have brought with them as soon as they can use it for themselves.

Alternatively, cold lunches can be brought along, as well as healthy snacks for the breaktimes in the morning and afternoon, if the children are at school all day.

Lunch is charged at CHF 10.00 and can be booked for a quarter with the registration form for additional services that can be found at Early Drop-Off/After School Care. These services will be billed separately.

Transfer Options

Transfer to ipso International School Primary School or to Year 1 of primary school in the local state school system.

Payment terms

The registration fee is due when registering.
The annual fees will be invoiced pro rata if the student starts school during the year.

Family discount

Families are granted a reduction of 10 % on the lower invoice starting from the enrolment of a 2nd child.

Tax Deduction

ipso! International School is a private school. At pre-school age school fees, respectively childcare costs, are sometimes partly tax-deductible, pursuant to cantonal regulations. Please check this with the tax office in your place of residence as the regulations for this vary from canton to canton.

Holiday Care

ipso! International School offers holiday camps for the supervision of children during the school holidays. This service is greatly appreciated by and popular with working parents.

Fun and games are the main focus of the entertaining programme: this includes plenty of time spent outdoors, with exercise, creative and artistic activities, picnics, baking or cooking, projects, small experiments, water games, sports, dance, yoga, listening to stories, treasure hunts and trips to the nearby forest and the beautiful parks along the Rhine. Depending on the age group, there are also trips to the zoo or visits to exhibitions and museums.

ipso! International School is committed to ensuring that parents and children visit the school at least once for an in-depth consultation with the school management before registering.

The most appropriate solution for education, care and maximum support must be found for every child. We clarify the suitability of the bilingual educational concept for your child, as well as checking whether a suitable school place is available. If possible, we also recommend a no-obligation trial visit of up to a week, depending on your child’s age. This will help your child to get to know the teaching staff and their classmates personally.
