International Baccalaureate Organisation
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) is the framework curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB) for children aged 3 to 12. The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB), founded in 1968, is a non-profit educational organisation based in Geneva. It works with schools, governments and international organisations worldwide to develop challenging education and strict, consistent evaluation criteria. At present, more than one million children and young people attend 5,175 IB schools in 157 countries. There are 4 IB programmes which can only be offered by schools designated as “IB World Schools”, if they are authorised to do so by the IB Organisation.
The aim of all IB programmes is to develop questioning, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to contribute to a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” These programmes foster active, compassionate and lifelong learning in students all over the world. They understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. With its research-driven, transdisciplinary framework, the IB PYP encourages children to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global problems and opportunities.
ipso! International School in Rheinfelden is a member of kibesuisse with its Kita/ECC Early Childhood Center department. The association gives its members a voice vis-à-vis politics, authorities and the public and supports them in their professional practice through a wide range of services.
International Baccalaureate Organisation
As an “IB World School”, our school is authorised by the IB Organisation to offer the IBPYP International Baccalaureate Programme. Only those schools that have completed this demanding official accreditation process are awarded the “IB World School” certificate. A complex review process takes place every 5 years, which involves regular checks of the schools’ quality standards.

Cantonal approval
In May 2016, the ipso International School Rheinfelden received indefinite approval from the Education Council of the Canton Aargau to operate a private school with senior classes up to and including Year 9 as well as a preschool. As is the case with all private schools, our school is subject to supervision by the Cantonal School Inspectorate. This means that private schools are regularly inspected, and it is ensured that performance records are provided at least once a year and that the curriculum and educational goals meet state requirements. The objective is to ensure flexible transfer opportunities to the state school system.
